Following guidance from England Golf please read the following carefully so you understand the changes we have made in order for golf to be enjoyed safely at The Vale Golf & Country Club.
* Please ensure that a fitted face mask/covering is worn upon entering the building for any reason (pulling clothing up over the face or using a body part to cover the face is not acceptable). Face masks/coverings may only be removed once seated if you are eating and drinking. This is a legal requirement and non-compliance could result in a fine of £200 for the first offence. CCTV is in use throught the premises.
* It is now also a legal requirement that everyone who enters the building for any reason signs in. This is for the NHS Track & Trace Service. We have now got QR codes which will be placed at the building entrances and can be scanned using the NHS Covid-19 app on your mobile phone. Should you not want to do this you will need to sign in using the paper signing in form - This must be completed in full each and every time you enter the building. If you are a member with us you can sign the form using your name and membership number – this is because we hold your contact details on file. By using this option you are agreeing to us disclosing your details if required to Public Health England.
* Where one way systems are in use around the building they must be adhered to.
* We advise all members and guests to bring a pocket sanitiser should you need to touch anything whilst at the Club.
Booking your Tee-Time
All Tee Times must be booked online via the Members Area on our website - Please be aware that you cannot just turn up to play.
Please be aware that if your membership has not been renewed, you will not be able to book a tee time.
Each of our three sections have a time allocated each week: Mens Section - Sunday 8.30am - 1pm: Ladies Section - Tuesday 8.30am - 12.30pm & Senior Section - Monday 8.30 - 1pm. Any tees booked within these times from outside the mentioned section will be deleted.
Arriving at the club
When arriving on site, please ensure you are wearing a mask/face covering and report to the Pro shop to check in. You will only be allowed access to the course if you have booked a tee time.
To access the Pro shop please walk from the car park down the access from to the left of the main building between the clubhouse and driving range.
Please make sure you have read the rules and regulations regarding Covid-19. This is displayed on the Pro shop counter and below.
Changing rooms and toilets will be made available through the Pro shop. Please adhere to social distancing at all times and ensure masks/face coverings are worn.
When leaving the course, Lenches players can exit as normal. International players please walk along the access road and be mindful of any golfers arriving at the club.
Golf is permitted as a four-ball and can comprise of individuals from different households.
Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your tee time and report to the pro shop no earlier than 5 minutes before your tee time.
If you store your clubs in a locker then please take care when retrieving them and disinfect your hands at one of the hand sanitising stations.
Buggies are available for hire for single use only or same household. The buggies will be disinfected each morning before use, there will
be six buggies available on a first come first served basis. Contactless payment will be available, no cash payments received at this time.
Please do not share clubs, tees or balls.
Please do not pick up stray balls on the course. Only handle your ball when playing your round.
Bunkers are in play and a player can place their ball.
Please do not touch the flag pole as we cannot guarantee these will be disinfected. We have installed inserts into the holes so the ball only
drops 1” so you can retrieve your ball without handling the flag.
Benches have been removed from the course and all ball washers are not available at this time.
The lids have been removed from the bins but where possible please take your rubbish home with you.
Try to maintain a reasonable speed of play. We would prefer to avoid the situation where players are calling other players through. Should this situation arise please maintain social distancing and play though as quickly as possible as we wish to avoid delays accumulating.
Upon request we can issue score cards. Please do not share score cards or pencils with your playing partner.
When finishing your round please leave the club as soon as possible to avoid social gatherings. Please do not be offended if one of our members of staff or course marshalls asks you to move on.
Spike & Vale Bar
The seating in both the Spike & Vale Bars have been placed to adhere to government guidelines on social distancing. It must not be re-arranged under any circumstances.
The new covid legislation states that if you are serving alcohol you must provide a table service. Having tried the table service in the Spike Bar it has proven to be unmanageable, therefore in order to comply with the legislation we will only be able to serve alcohol in the Vale Bar. The Vale Bar & Patio will now be open daily from 12 noon and there will only be Table Service available so please do not approach the bar.
Please see below summary of what is available:
Spike Bar will be open daily 07:30 - 16:30 : Serving Hot Drinks, Soft Drinks and snacks from the counter
The Vale Bar will be open daily from 12noon – 19:00 : Serving our main menu, Beers, Wines or Spirits
Please ensure that you only use the seating in either bar if you are ordering something to eat or drink.
Should you wish to sit/consume beverages on the patio areas you are still required to log in and must maintain social distancing at all times.
Menus are single use and can be thrown away after use.
Food is available until 4.00pm everyday.
No personal items should be left in the Clubhouse at any time. These operating times are constantly under review and may well change.
We are currently working with reduced staff and therefore please bear with us as we adapt to these changes whilst trying to figure out the best way to implement things for both customers and staff.
There is currently no intention to lock the main gates, enabling twilight play.
The Pro Shop.
Whilst in the pro shop please refrain from picking up any items unless you are intending to buy them.
If you are purchasing items of clothing please speak to a member of the Pro shop about our current returns policy.
The Pro shop is open from 7:00 - 18:00. Please check in for your tee time here.
The Driving Range
We have purchased a new range max ball machine with a digi card reader and a contactless card payment facility. If you have a digi card already, this will work in the machine. Otherwise you will be able to purchase balls using a debit or credit card. This will negate the need to buy and handle tokens which we feel lowers the risk of contracting Covid-19.
We have introduced a one-way system for entering and leaving the range. To enter the range, please use the main entrance at the centre of the
range. To leave, please use the exit next to the ball dispenser.
We have marked the floor leading up to the ball machine with 2m spaces so you will be able to safely queue for the ball dispenser. If there is
no one waiting ahead of you, please proceed down the steps.
Baskets will be sanitised every morning and left next to the ball machine. When leaving the driving range please leave your basket in the box
outside the range.
Our balls will be washed and disinfected every time we undertake a collection using the ball washer behind the dispenser.
The Practice Area & Putting Green
The practice area will be closed until further notice. We are making upgrades to include a new bunker and larger chipping area.
The putting green is open however please contact the Pro Shop before using so we can monitor the number of people using the area. Whilst on the putting green please ensure you are maintaining social distancing.

Paperwork will be emailed to you and signed copies can be returned to the Pro Shop. Payment options will be outlined on your renewal letter.
Upon renewing all members will receive 2 months extension on to their membership as a result of the government enforced closure between 24th March – 12th May.
As a thank you for staying safe and supporting the club, all members renewing will also receive an additional month extension to their new contract.
