Pictured left is Ian Haywood one of our seniors here at the Vale. Ian came to the performance centre struggling for distance and accuracy with his driver.We performed a fitting using our launch monitor and this showed he didn't have enough loft on his current driver and he was using the incorrect shaft flex, we fitted Ian with a new Cobra S3 12 Degrees with a SR flex which gave him an extra 25 yards and enabled him to hit more fairways.
Recently we performed a fitting for an individual who had been fitted with Ping I15 irons, with a stiff shaft 0.75 upright and with thin grips (Aqua Code). He had been using blades for all his golfing career but went with the recommendations the pro gave him even though he wasn't sure at the time. After a session using the Vector Pro Launch Monitor, we fitted him with Ping s56 irons with R300 shafts and a 0.75 flat lie angle. He was a lot happier with the more blade looking irons and his shot dispersion was a lot more consistant due to the correct shaft and lie angle. This highlights the importance of not telling the customer what they should use but instead asking lots of questions to fit the player with clubs they are comfortable with.
